Building a Business Empire in Southern Africa

Brian spent 30 years in Botswana, as he and his wife Orla, established a promotions, marketing and logistics company, Expo Africa. They started with brand activation projects in Botswana and over a 14-year period, their footprint expanded across 8 countries, with 25 of their own branches in the region, employing over 2000 staff at times.  As together, they grew brands for multi-nationals such as Unilever, GlaxoSmithKline, Kellogg’s, Nestlé, Indigo and more.

  • In 2017, the Bakebergs sold their African business, marking the beginning of a new chapter.
  • Relocation to Ireland: Initially Brian planned for semi-retirement but soon, he engaged in new business opportunities.

Temerity is a testament to Brian Bakeberg's innovative spirit and willingness to challenge conventional thinking. As Mayo's first boutique wine estate, Temerity is pioneering viticulture in a region not traditionally known for winemaking. The winery plans to produce organic Zweigelt red wine.
